20 Minutes or Less
I wanted to capture people in their elements, in places they normally spend time. In some cases this was their home, places they work, or a place of significance to them. I wanted it to be natural, so I spent only 15-20 minutes with each person with little, or no, prior planning. I hardly had time to process what had just taken place. I had an overwhelming feeling of excitement though. There was such an array of stimulating visuals, from marionettes, wolf skins and teeth, to dirt bikes, animal companions, and beautiful landscapes. Giving myself such a short amount of time in each setting created a spontaneity, adding to my excitement. I also asked each person for a favorite quote, or small piece of writing, that they identify with to go with the set of photos I took. The final product shows a part of them that they’ve given to me, as well as the images that I’ve taken of them, from their daily lives.
