House/Hold - Hillerbrand + Magsamen
Hillerbrand+Magsamen are a collaborative husband and wife visual artist team of Stephan Hillerbrand and Mary Magsamen. Based in Houston, Texas their multi-disciplinary practice incorporates humor, performance and everyday objects with a reflection on Fluxus sensibilities. For the past five years they have been exploring their home, family identity and excessive consumerism through performance, photography and video. Expanding their personal lives into a contemporary art conversation, all of Hillerbrand+Magsamen’s work has been set inside or around their suburban home. Drawing no line between their lives and their art, their examination of the idea of family is dependent on the existence of their own.
